Installer credentials

The business carrying out refrigerant work should be properly qualified. These are the checks to make before accepting an installation quotation.

F-Gas certification

Installation, servicing or repair work that involves fluorinated refrigerants must be completed by appropriately certified people and businesses. Ask the contracting installer for its current company certification details and confirm which qualified engineer will attend your property.

What else to verify

  • Public liability insurance suitable for the type and value of work.
  • A written survey, equipment specification and fixed or clearly itemised quotation.
  • Manufacturer warranty requirements and who will register the equipment.
  • Workmanship warranty, commissioning records and maintenance expectations.
  • Permissions required from a freeholder, managing agent, landlord or planning authority.

Independent installation partners

UK Aircon Installations may introduce you to an independent installer. The installer is responsible for its own qualifications, advice, quotation and contracted work. Always verify the named business’s credentials before appointment and keep copies of the quotation, certification and warranty documents.

Questions to ask at survey

Ask why the proposed system is the right capacity, where condensate will drain, how pipework and electrics will be routed, what noise the outdoor unit produces, and how future servicing will be accessed. A good survey should answer these before work begins.
