What the survey should cover
An installer should assess room dimensions, glazing, insulation, heat sources, occupancy, outdoor-unit position, pipe and cable routes, drainage, electrical supply, access and noise. These details determine both the equipment and the quality of the finished result.
Common system choices
- Single split: one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit.
- Multi split: several indoor units connected to one outdoor unit, with individual room control.
- Commercial systems: equipment selected around longer operating hours, occupancy and business continuity.
Before work starts
Confirm planning, landlord or freeholder permissions; the final equipment model and capacity; condensate and electrical arrangements; the programme; protection and making-good; commissioning; and warranty registration. Check the contracting installer’s credentials.
